Carpeting the Desert floor:
In February, if the weather is just right, hundreds of California poppies carpet our desert. In 2002, a beautiful display of wild flowers was all around Kitt Peak National Observatory. One of it's giant white telescope housings is pictured on top of the mountain peak in the background.
